Serang Beach in Blitar City, East Java Province
Blitar City is known for its historical tourism, especially related to the first president of Indonesia (Soekarno). However, tourists can find other attractions in that region. For example, it is the formation of beaches in the southern part of the region. Some of these beaches are quite famous, in fact, including Serang Beach! As the name suggests, the beach is located in Serang Village and it belongs to Panggungrejo Sub-District. Some people even say it is the most beautiful one, as compared to others. Exploring Serang Beach

Well, for sightseeing, the beach offers the view of the fabulous Indian Ocean. Despite the fact, unlike other southern beaches, the waves are moderate and safe enough for swimming there.
The next recommended thing to do in Serang Beach is beach walking. Thanks to the vast shoreline and soft-textured landscape. Tourists can even walk on it without any footwear. During the exploration, they must reach the hilly area and climb on it! The purpose is to get better views and enjoy sightseeing in the best manner. Also, they should drop by at a nearby local village and sea turtle conservation. For lucky tourists, they can even watch some sea turtles laying eggs on the site.
Another thing that tourists can do in Serang Beach is to watch the famous Larung Saji Ritual. They must come at the right time in order to watch the event, though. This ritual is done by the locals to show gratitude to God regarding the abundant fishes. Villagers would give away the head of cattle (sesaji) to the sea. During the ceremony, tourists are allowed to take some photos as well. Later, in the afternoon, they should not miss seeing a romantic sunset too!

How to Get There
The first destination is indeed Blitar City. From Surabaya City, in this case, the trip may take around 3 hours and 30 minutes. The distance is 155 km, after all. As for the best route, it is recommended to take Surabaya – Mojokerto Highway. Later, after arriving at Blitar, tourists can simply take Protokol Street and head to Serang Beach right away. The distance is 32.7 km, so the trip would take about 55 minutes. It can be less during the low traffic, though.
