Pulau Merah

Pantai pulau merah adalah salah satu destinasi unggulan Banyuwangi yang berada di desa Desa Sumberagung, Kecamatan Pesanggaran, berjarak sekitar 60 km dari pusat kota Banyuwangi kearah selatan atau 2,5 jam perjalanan bila ditempuh dengan mobil.
Sebelum bernama pantai pulau merah, pantai ini bernama pantai ringin pitu. Ada dua alasan mengapa pantai ini dikenal sebagai Pantai Merah, yang pertama karena warna tanah yang kemerah merahan, sementara versi yang kedua karena konon terpancar cahaya merah di sekitar bibir pantai. Kita dapat mencapai pulau ini ketika air surut dengan berjalan kaki yang hanya berjarak 100 meter. Dengan ombak setinggi 4 meter saat laut pasang, dan gulungan ombak sejauh 3km, menjadikan laut merah sebagai tujuan para peselancar dunia. Hal ini telah dibuktikan dengan adanya kejuaraan International Surfing Competition pada 2013 yang lalu dengan diikuti para surfer dari 20 negara yang dibuka langsung oleh menteri pariwisata.
