Sumberawan Temple

Candi Sumberawan, located in the foothills of Mt Arjuna to the north east of Malang, is one of only two known examples of a Buddhist stupa in East Java, the other being Candi Dadi in the region of Tulungagung.

Dating from around the end of the 14th or beginning of the 1 5th century, this site has been identified with Kasurangganan, or 'the garden of the heavenly nymphs', which is mentioned in the Nagarakertagama as having been visited by King Hayam Wuruk of Majapahit in 1359
