Gresik Traditional Port

Gresik traditional port is about 6 mil from Tanjung Perak Surabaya Port. Gresik port is crowded port of business activities and transportation. Gresik port has known as inter island port and as park place for many boat from Kalimantan, Celebes and Papua that bring woods.

The important history of the older Islam religion in Java Island has been beginning in this port. Its location is near to Gresik Town Square, about 1 km to east direction, through Jl. Dr. Setiabudi. According to Giant Anchor Monument in Gresik port gateway lettered – Since 1389 Gresik Port began to exist, which then called Bandar Agung as Nyai Ageng Pinatih command. Nyai Ageng Pinatih is Joko Samudro’s (baby that she found in sea) stepmother. Joko Samudra nickname is Raden Paku or known as Sunan Giri, one of Wali Songo member, old Islam spreader in Java. There are two graves of Wali Songo member in Gresik, that is Sunan Giri and Sunan Malik Ibrahim.
