Makam Sunan Drajat


Sunan Drajat diperkirakan lahir pada tahun 1470, dengan nama kecil Raden Qasim, lalu mendapat gelar Raden Syarifudin. Dia adalah putra dari Sunan Ampel, yang juga saudara dari Sunan Bonang.

Setelah menguasai pelajaran Islam beliau menyebarkan agama Islam di desa Drajat sebagai tanah perdikan di kecamatan Paciran, yang merupakan tanah pemberian kerajaan Demak. Sebagai penghargaan atas keberha-silannya menyebarkan agama Islam dan usahanya menanggulangi kemiskinan dengan menciptakan kehidupan yang makmur bagi warganya, beliau memperoleh gelar Sunan Mayang Madu dari Raden Patah Sultan Demak pada tahun saka 1442 atau 1520 Masehi

Makam Sunan Drajat bisa ditempuh dari Surabaya maupun Tuban lewat Jalan Daendels (Anyar-Panarukan), 30 menit bila melalui Lamongan.

Selain itu, untuk menghormati jasa - jasa Sunan Drajat sebagai seorang Wali penyebar agama Islam di wilayah Lamongan dan untuk melestarikan budaya serta benda-¬benda bersejarah peninggalannya, keluarga dan para sahabatnya yang berjasa pada penyiaran agama Islam, Pemerintah Kabupaten Lamongan mendirikan Musium Daerah Sunan Drajat disebelah timur Makam. Musium ini telah diresmikan oleh Gubernur Jawa Timur tanggal 1 Maret 1992.
